Crock Pot Apple Butter

This past weekend we took our yearly fall trip to the Nebraska City Apple Orchards.  It is the best.  You can buy bags, boxes, or bushels and pick whatever apples you want in the orchards. A Kocarnik Family favorite :]

Here is an easy apple butter recipe for all of those apples!

- Crock Pot Apple Butter -

4 lbs (12 cups) apples cored/peeled/sliced
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup water
2 Tbl apple cider vinegar
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp nutmeg (really good if you have a whole nutmeg you can ground)

Put all of the ingredients in the crock pot on High for 5-6 hours (I only do mine for 5 hours because I like my apple butter more chunky).  Stir every hour or every other hour.  When done, just cover and let it chill over night.  Can in the morning.  Enjoy :]

  1. I'm going there this weekend. I will have to make sure I try this with all of my apples-sounds delish.

  2. Have fun! Ps...if you have an apple peeler/corer, it makes the process a hundred times easier =)
